Hey there and welcome! KP Home is a full-service interior design firm based in the glorious and character-filled city of Chicago. At KP Home, we believe that your home should be as unique as you are. We combine beautiful design with your experiences, personality, and taste to create a masterpiece.
As anyone who has worked from home can attest, the lines between work and home life can blur all too easily. This was especially true for me as a solo-prenuer with a growing interior design business. My home office was also a guest bedroom and the bed had gradually become the ‘storage’ area overrun with fabric swatches, paint chips, flooring samples, and all the other tools of our trade. The kitchen island was getting buried in papers. And my living room? Why not make more room for samples in the bedroom and move the desk right next to the couch? It worked for a bit but then it was clear: it was time for a change. We need to transition from home office chaos to a creative maker space in Chicago.
The decision to move into a dedicated office space wasn’t made lightly. The convenience of working from home was undeniable. Even as I started to pack up all my stuff, I started to think “should I get doubles so I have one at home and one at the office?” Well that defeats the purpose.
However, when every inch of your living space starts to double as your workplace, it’s nearly impossible to separate the two. I already think about work constantly and was in need of some mental separation, and the clutter was a daily reminder of tasks left undone.
I could tell my productivity and creativity were suffering. A change of environment was not just desirable—it was necessary. I needed a space where I could focus, be inspired, and support a growing business.
Thanks to a good friend and fellow creative, the search was short and led me to a developing area in Chicago, known for its vibrant community of makers and creators, Kinzie Industrial Corridor at 2003 W Fulton St.
The moment I stepped into the space, I was captivated by its potential. Located in an industrial building with exposed brick, original hardwood floors, and tons of natural light, it felt like the perfect place for KP Home. Not to mention, we have a stunning view of the Chicago skyline.
The area itself buzzes with creativity and innovation. Surrounding ourselves with other makers—artists, designers, and craftspeople—also offers a renewed sense of community and collaboration. I’m so excited to be part of a neighborhood that values creativity and craftsmanship as much as I do.
I jumped at the space which left little time for planning and designing but the ideas are flowing, so the jury is still out on how I’ll be as my own client 😉
I am just getting started with the move and can already feel the benefits it will provide personally and professionally. The goal is to improve my work-life balance where my home is once again a place of relaxation, increase productivity, and spark some new creativity.
I’ll be taking you along as the design fully comes together.
Just think – a conference table to meet with clients and showcase their beautiful designs, organized and thoughtful storage for all the samples, a large desk and of course some fun decor.
We’re excited about the future and the projects that lie ahead. Being part of a growing area in Chicago also reignites our love and dedication to this amazing city.
If you’re finding that your home office is encroaching on your living space and affecting your productivity, it might be time to consider a change. It doesn’t have to require a move, but sometimes, all you need is a fresh perspective.
Reach out, I’d love to chat.
